Khirbet
Qeiyafa
is
a
mysterious.
The
site
unearthed
since
2007,
the
findings
interpretations
are
under
fierce
scholars
debate.
Qeiyafa
was
a
fortified
city
during
the
late
11
th
century
BCE
for
a
short
period.
The city is the earliest known Iron Age centrally planned fortified city.
The
Qeiyafa
academic
debate
between
some
scholars
who
vote
for
the
biblical
united
kingdom,
against
other
scholars
who
opposed
the
magnificent
of
the
biblical
narrative.
There
is
agreement
about
the
city's
dating
of
the
late
11
th
century
BCE
and
most
of
the
findings;
the
debate
is
about
the
related
interpretations
which
reflect
on
broader
historical questions. Some suggest that Qeiyafa was a Canaanite city.
During
the
excavations,
some
unique
findings
unearthed.
The
Khirbet
Qeiyafa
inscription,
the
longest
inscription
written
in
Proto-
Canaanite
script.
Few
hundreds
of
jars
handle
bearing
fingerprints,
an
earlier
version
of
jars
prints
which
served
the
administration
of
the
Kingdom
of
Judah
250
years
later,
and
an
inscription
of
a
Proto-
Canaanite alphabetic script on a jar shoulder.
Today
you
can
walk
through
this
small,
impressive
site;
visit
the
two
similar
gates,
see
the
casemate
walls
and
the
inside
symmetrical
dwellings,
the
two
shrines
next
to
the
gates
and
the
beautiful
view
of
the
Judah
mountains
and
the
green
Ella
Valley.
The
valley,
where
the
biblical young David, hit the giant Goliath 3,000 years ago.
